Vintage fashion was always elusive. I’ve never been able to go thrifting and find vintage pieces that fit my body, so it was a style that I just never got into.
The plus-size market has been growing rapidly, and resale stores and well as vintage stores have crept into the plus-size landscape in major cities. And if you aren’t in one, Etsy is an available option as well, with the searchability and array of sellers making it easy to consider adding vintage to your wardrobe rotation.
Vintage clothes are unique, often one-of-a-kind, and sometimes even handmade. Before you start shopping, get a measuring tape and measure your body. This will help you ensure that you are buying vintage that will actually fit your body, instead of relying on the size, which is highly unreliable.
Most sellers will provide specific measurements in the description and if they don’t just message them and ask. They’ll be more than happy to help you find the perfect vintage clothing for you.
Dollface Productions
For the last ten years, Jenny Zigrino has been selling vintage clothing on Etsy. Her customers love her vintage plus size finds, and she has a perfect review record to prove it. She’s not just a small business owner, in her bio she shares that she is also a stand-up comedian.
Dollface Productions is a “hodge podge” of antiques, clothing, and unique things she loves. Jenny’s motto is “If I won’t wear it, I won’t sell it.” Dollface focuses on plus-size vintage, stocking sizes 12 and up – but upper sizes appear to be limited at the current moment, although they are typically stocked.
Dollface Productions has many great reviews, but this one from brizzzyredhead sums up the Etsy shop. “Lovely seller; shipped lightning fast. [The] dress is in amazing condition and so gorgeous and unique, the photos don’t do it justice. I love it; thank you so much!!!’
