Turbo Tim’s Anything Automotive – St. Paul, MN

  • 04-28-2024
  • 1671 University Ave W, St Paul, MN 55104

To celebrate the release of Mechanic Shop Femme’s Guide to Car Ownership, Chaya’s going on tour. Throw what you think a book tour should look like right out the window because this book tour will turn everything on its head. Instead of hosting a signing at bookstores, Chaya will be crisscrossing the country, visiting mechanic shops, and connecting with you face-to-face.

You’ll get to meet the Mechanic Shop Femme in person, get your book signed, and connect with a local woman-owned mechanic shop – and who knows, it might just become your new go-to mechanic.

Please preorder your book from Barbara’s Bookstore. Mechanic Shop Femme’s Guide to Car Ownership will not be available for sale at the book signing, so please bring the book with you.

About the shop – What do cats, car repairs, and community building have in common? Turbo Tim’s, of course! The three Twin Cities-based repair shops are owned and operated by Rachel (who has a Ph.D. in Community Engagement, no less) and Tim (her husband and master technician). The couple is on a mission to ensure their customers drive home after repairs feeling good about their experience at the repair shop, something that can be hard to come by in the world of misogynistic, homophobic, and racist mechanic shops. After Tim came across a stray cat at the original Turbo Tim’s location, they decided to adopt him, and then another, and another, and so it goes.

Ticket sales will fund the Jill Trotta Scholarship, launching in the fall of 2024. The scholarship will provide financial assistance for tools, tuition fees, and other necessary requirements for women and queer individuals who are entering this field.
