From personal experience, I cannot stress how important car accessories are. They help you take care of your car and enjoy the experience of car ownership. I have my favorites, which I am sharing below. Whether it’s the best floor mats to prevent salt from getting all over the carpet or a jump starter to save you from looking for another car if yours doesn’t start, these car accessories won’t let you down.
Weathertech Floor Mats

I live in Wisconsin and floor mats are an essential car accessory. Not all car floor mats are made equal, however. Weathertech offers the holy grail of floor mats and while they are a bit expensive, I find them to be worth every penny. With raised edges and a laser cut design, these floor mats make sure you don’t get any rain, snow or salt on your car’s carpets. You can easily remove these and wash them off with a hose.
Car Vacuum Cleaner

I don’t know about you, but somehow no matter how careful I am, I get crumbs all over my car. A portable car vacuum cleaner with all the attachments gets the job done. Easy to use and without much hassle, it’s an essential car accessory. Its size makes it easy to hang onto in the truck and grab it when you need it. Maintaining your car’s interior helps maintain its value as well.
Car Garbage Bag

Yes, I know. You don’t need a fancy bag to keep trash in. But let’s get real. If you are anything like me, you don’t always have a bag when you need one. This is perfect for those occasions and helps you keep your car tidy. I think it’s just fabulous enough for you to own.
Tire Pressure Gauge

Proper tire pressure saves you money and prevents rapid tire wear. That makes a small tire pressure gauge like this one, essential to car ownership. I like this specific model because it has a digital display, LED flashlight and includes emergency escape tools such as a seat belt cutter and window hammer. Read about the importance of tire pressure here.
Charger with Long Cord

This one is an obvious investment to me. I spend a lot of time in my car and a lot of time on my phone. Since I use the phone’s GPS, I like to have a phone charger in my car to make sure I’m good to go when I get to my destination. But not any car charger will do. Since I need to have my phone easily visible, a regular car charger is much too short to be useful. Instead I buy a Samsung Fast Charger with an extended cord like this one. Saves me the trouble of having a phone with a low battery.
Jump Starter + Air Compressor

This jump starter box has been my favorite for years! Instead of trying to carry jumper cables and hoping someone will help you in an emergency, buy this charger box and you’ll be good to go. It’s not just a jump starter, it’s also an inverter, allowing you to charge your laptop or plug in a radio. If that wasn’t enough, it also has a built-in air compressor for keeping your car and bike tires inflated. Keeping your tires properly inflated saves you money in the long run.
Phone Holder

There are so many different variations of cell phone holders. I, however, swear by this simple swivel clip. It’s easy to use, doesn’t require any magnet or suction and is quite cheap, too. If you have one of the larger phones on the market, don’t make the mistake of buying a holder that’s too small for your phone. Always check to see if the holder is compatible with your phone.
Tread Depth Gauge

This little handy tool will help you know when it’s time to replace your tires and it’s cheap; great for those on a budget. What this does is measure the tread depth of your tires and is color coded in a way that makes it easy to tell when time is running out. This means you’ll never be surprised when your mechanic tells you that it’s time to spend a bunch of money to buy tires.
Rearview Mirror Plant

Ok, you don’t really need this, but how cute is this?!? A rearview mirror plant hanger from Etsy. Bring a little green and sunshine into your car and brighten your mood. I love it and will definitely buying this soon.
Cars should be more than just stressful and money pits. They should be fun and help you get to where you need to go reliably. These accessories will help on both those fronts.
